I know bullberry and virgin valley have done this cartridge. I have the reamer for it and an improved version. I plan to do it in encore pistols, savage 340's marlin lever guns and remington 788's. Looks like it will be a good Cartridge.

I've never heard of this being done, possible one of the few neck up jobs that hasn't been tried, but who knows, somebody may have done it. I think the 30-30 can do maybe 2000 fps with a 200 gr bullet, so would expect similar performance from the necked up round. The two problems I'd expect are you can't use pointy bullets in a tube mag, and the bullets designed for the 338 win mag will likely have limited expansion at your velocities. I'm a far and gone 35 nut, and have long desired a 35/30-30. I know it's been done before, and there are plenty of bullets designed for that level of velocity and tubular magazines. Then I realize the reason for that is the 35 rem, and why would I go to the trouble and expense of re-barreling a 30-30, when I can pick up a 35 rem for much less $, and get off the shelf dies.

Anyone ever neck up a 30-30 to 338? What kind of velocity can you get out of it, is it possible? I was messing around and I was able to seat a .338 bullet in a 30-30 shell fairly well. Has this been done before and what are the results? I wonder how a 200 gr NBT in 338 would work.
