Does anyone have any experience shooting 180 Nosler Ballistic Tip's in their 338-08. I am primarily looking for loads and velocities because I use this bullet in my 338 WM's using Re15 with very accurate results and now am planning to build a lightweight rifle for deer hunting. I am curious if Re15 will work in the 308 case also. Thanks for any info, Steve

I should be able to answer this question in a few weeks. My 338-08 will be back in my hands shortly and I will be working on load development. Until then here is some load data I have collected. Notice that one load is for a 338-08AI. Ken Waters and the 338/08 Ruger 77 338/308 Ackley Improved, 24 inch Donnelly standard sporter weight bbl. 41.5gr. IMR4895, RP 308 case, Winchester large rifle primer, 180 Nosler BT. Five shots left over from hunting season. Mass loaded using a powder measure weighing every 5th load. Here are primary velocities. #1 2691 #2 2652 #3 2626 #4 2650 $5 2721 Highest 2721 lowest 2625 Spread 0096 Average 2667 SD 0037 100 yd. 5 shot group size. Less than 1/2 inch. Measured outside to outside, Less the 7/8 but more than 13/16 minus .338 = 5 shots in less than 1/2 inch. I also shot some 200gr. Nosler BT's. For the 200 gr. BT's I used 46 grs of RL15. Each one of these charges was weighed. Here's the stats on that. #1 2496 #2 2481 #3 2485 #4 2488 #5 2483 Highest 2496 lowest 2481 Spread 0015 Average 2486 SD 0005 Group was a little different. Three shots under 1/2 inch outside to outside. Two shots out at 9 and 11 O'clock make the whole group just under 2 inches. I will reshoot that load again another day. Did I anticipate the shot, sounds like maybe. ************** go to this website - http://talk.shooters.com/index.cfm go to Ammo / Reloading and then to Wildcats and do a search on 338-08. There is a lot of discussion and reports of how it performs opn game both in North America and Africa.
