I'm wondering if any of you fellas have tried this out (9.3x86). I'm sure it's a somewhat popular WC, as it seems an obvious combo to me. If anyone could give me ballistic/performance info., I'd be much obliged. I'm also wondering if anyone has put together a .366 286 grained bullet, or the like, and a 375 ruger case. Info on this would also be much appreciated. Many thanks. "Sometimes nothing can be a pretty cool hand." 470 Heym; 9.3x74r Chapuis, Heym 450/400 on it's way

Also, if you have any thoughts as to how you think either will perform, let me know. I'm in search of a new project, and I want to center it around the .366. If you have any other ideas for the .366, I'd be interested to hear them as well. Thanks to anybody that responds, assuming someone does. 365 Magnum, 375 RUM necked down slightly to .366", Now that would be a hammer 9,3mm. RCBS makes dies, and Pac-Nor has a reamer and barrels. Pick up a P14 or P17 and go happy. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

I like your thinking, but would it be too much speed for the bullets manufactured for the .366? "Sometimes nothing can be a pretty cool hand." 470 Heym; 9.3x74r Chapuis, Heym 450/400 on it's way

anyone have a guesstimate on what kind of velocities from the 250/286 bullets? edit...based on the 375 Ruger case.... I think I am getting closer to what I'm going to turn my P14 into! archdlx

Rough numbers here: .366 Ruger+ 320 grain Woodleigh solid at 2,425 fps This is a PC load, so I'm sure it could be upped a bit. It looks fairly appealing in my mind. Now, I just have to find the time, money, and give-a-shit to make it happen, but right now I'm running a bit low on all three said requisites. .....Why not just build a 9.3x64 Brenneke ...I did and believe me components and the like are not the easiest things to come by ,, Execpt for Huntington,s .......Thank God for HDS ...Take the extra time you would building the rifle and work on wearing it out shooting off hand ...I have had nothing but great success with my 9.3x64 A 250 gr TSX pushed by 68.5 gr RL 15 gives me 2750 fps useing a CCI 250 primer and 21.5" barrel ..with a 1.5-6x scope on it it works great ..It,s nice and compact hits hard , not too high pressured ...cases slide out of the chamber very easily .....I can,t see fooling with the 375 Ruger case ,., What will you gain ....I would use the 64 in any circumstance that I would a 375 and mine is easier to shoot than any 375 I,ve ever had ..I think the 9.3/WSM or SAUMag would be pretty ideal ..if a person had a short fat action they wanted to make something better in .....My gunsmith has made some 416 WSM,s and they sure do look like a great round .....just my 2 cents worth ...,.,I like the Brenneke... .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

I've often considered a 9.3 brenneke and am still considering one, but like you say, parts are hard to come by. I figured that the 375R would probably take off, making casings easy to find and ultimately less trouble than a Brenneke. That may not be a good assessment, but the real reason for the project would just be the fun of doing it. Besides, I think the 375R case has a bit more capacity than the Brenneke... someone is welcome to show me otherwise, as I'm not entirely sure about that claim. Thanks fellas. I would also just go with the brenneke,I had a stainless one a few years ago with a 21" barrel and it was devastating on big Yukon moose with the 286gr nosler @ 2600fps.Components are not that hard to find,I have a guy that always has 20-30bx of brass on hand. The ruger does have slightly more capacity and would probably gain 100fps, but I don't think the 9.3's are really about max velosity. The brenneke just seems to be very well balanced.Hell maybe I should build another one.

Although the 9.3x64 is not a wildcat, it is still harder to find brass off and on for it. it comes and goes in production and importation in the USA...Its a pain in the a$$ in other words..Most metric brass is expensive and hard to find from time to time and has a bad habit of disapearing when sales get low. The .375 Ruger will be an endlesssupply of brass in days to come and is a better base for a wildcat IMO..but I go up not down on mine with a 416 and a 404.. But Why? What will it give you to neck it from .375 to .366? I know a wildcatter don't need exuses, but this one is not doing anything the Ruger does not do, unless you have a drawer full of .366 bullets? Bent Fossdal Reiso 5685 Uggdal Norway

Why not? I'd want to just for the sake of the project (screw the result and enjoy the process), and I must admit that I have some strange affection for the 9.3. I would also probably be the only guy in the Texas panhandle with one as well, though I'm not claiming originality by any means. I guess some advantages would be a bit flatter trajectory and a bit better SD on equivalently sized bullets. Also, as mentioned earlier, loading a 9.3 ruger would be easier than a Brenneke b/c of costs and the availability of ammo etc., and I've always had a hankering for a brenneke. All in all you're correct though, the poor critter caught on the business end of either bullet wouldn't know the difference. Just realized I had a type-o on the subject-line, it was supposed to read 9.3x68 not 86. Thanks for the replies.
