I finally picked up a used Mike Bryant rifle this year in 6.5/284. It was listed in the ads here. I like the 284 case as have had acouple 6/284 plus the regular 284. Cann't comment on the other as haven't tried they. I think the 6.5 is finally coming into it's own with better bullets etc. I like my 6.5/284 and plan on using as a long range PD and antelope rifle. There is kind of an envelope for the velocity of the 142 gr bullets so what ever case you use you need to get to that velocity. From what I hear it's above 2900 fps. I've read some stuff on the 6.5/300AIwsm and that seems very intersting. One of the good things with the 6.5/284 is you can get brass without a fireform step. I had some 284 win case plus Laupa and Hornaday. Since this is a tight neck I tried all three for a grouping to see what was best. Got 5 shot groups in the 3's with all three type case. Mike put on a good chamber in this rifle. The only problem I find is that the laupa is alittle hard and found this same problem in my tightneck 308. I think your choices are good ones and which ever one you pick will do the job. Well good luck Tom

6.5-284. My next project rifle. Close in ballistics to the 6.5-06 and pretty hot on the long-range match circuit right now. I have a 6.5-300 Weatherby, which is just too much of a good thing (140 @ 3,400). For easiest operation, I'd stay away from anything of more capacity than the .264WinMag in this bore. I really like the 6.5 bore for a great compromise between muzzle energy, recoil and ballistic efficiency and it seems the 6.5-284 has enough energy, good manageability and inherent accuracy.

I like the 6.5-06AI(40 degree), but the dies are over $100.00..too much. CH4D has the dies, but he needs a couple of fired cases first. How the h#ll am I gonna get fired brass if I don't have the dies? AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!! I used to have a 264 Mag on a P-14 action, so I think I'm gonna go with that one.
