Anyone ever build one of these? I've always wanted to, having built a number of 338/06's for customers. Seems this would be a good short action alternative. (ruger 77 old style or Sako action) I'd just do a simple neck up and keep the taper & shoulder angle/length as it is.

Some years back I bought a near new M-99 savage in .308 that had a gouged chamber. Got it for junk price almost.

Rechambered it to 308/284, and it was a whizzer, even in the 99 action, so I then built a M-99 in 338/284 and it duplicated the 338-06 with no effort at all, and again in the M-99 with mild loads.

I never could get much from the 338/308, just not enough powder capacity, at least in the M-99 Sav.
