It really is so close to a 7mmDakota it wouldn't make since to go wildcat. Case cap. is very close to the 7STW. I have a Ruger #1 rechambered & w/ the 26"bbl. I easily hit 3250fps w/ 160gr bullets, 3350fps if I push a bit, but why?

Au contraire, Fred. The sense is in the cents. Those Dakota cases ain't cheap. Nor Jeffery.
If one was to make a shortened RUM, I could see the reasoning.
Get a 375 RUM (CRF, of course!) and use the older cases trimmed down for your 7mm, and you'd have quite a two-gun battery.

You're right @ $1+ each they are not cheap, but brass life is very good. I have a batch of test case I have fired (6) times now & only had to trim once, everything is still tight. In a pinch I could make cases from a RUM case (I made some test cases for my .404 from .375RUM) but I bought 200 Dakotas & that will probably last me the rest of my life (I have too many other hunting rifles, dont' tell the wife though).
