Hey folks, I'm not usually into wildcat cartridges, but I had a conversation with Charlie Sisk today. I guess he has a thing for the 9.3, because he has chamber reamers for the following wildcats:9.3x350 Rem Mag, 9.3x375 RUM, 9.3x378 Wby, 9.3x 300WSM, 9.3x300 Wby, 9.3x7mm Wby, 9.3x308, and a few more that I'm sure I've forgotten. If you were thinking of a wildcat based on the 9.3 round, call Charlie. He's built them, loaded for them, and shot them, so he might save you some time. He's at 936-258-4984 in Dayton, TX...or email him thru his Siskguns website.

More 9.3 BS, eh?
As in "9.3 Barsness-Sisk," the 9.3/300WSM?
Yep, those guys are real rifle loonies. Wink

Does Charlie Sisk have a 9.3/.338 Lapua Magnum?

Good Doctor Alf Smith has pegged the 9.3/.338 Lapua Magnum as the ultimate hunting cartridge: User friendly,
best balance of shootability, portability, and effectiveness of ballistics (internal, external, and terminal).

Best brass too, built for 70K psi.

Anyone done the 9.3/.338 Lapua Magnum?
That would be "not just another 9.3x70mm." Wink

In essence, wouldn't this be the 366 DGW (416 Rigby necked down to 9.3)? FWIW, to me, the 9.3x70 is the ultimate 9.3 cartridge. Would love to do one of those someday.

Hi RIP,

yes, a lot of 9,3 Stuff....
A Gunsmith in Germany is doing them all, from a 9,3x6mmBR, 9,3-08, 9,3WSM ( CIP-tested within the next weeks, Die´s by Redding) up to a 9,3x338Lapua....

Best

Hi 2RECON,
I never could get any 9.5 Tornado (9.5x69mm) dies from your German maker.
They never answered my email.

I am too heavily invested in the .375-cal (9.5mm) and .395-cal (10.03mm) cats to be interested in the .366-cal (9.3mm) right now.
Maybe later.

Redding made my dies for
.395/.338 Lapua Magnum as ".398 Lapua Magnum."
Easy to change a "3" to a "9" for proper headstamp. Wink

They also made my .395 Tatanka and 500 Mbogo dies,
and Quality cartridge made the proper brass for those.

9.3/.338LM might be called the "9.3x69mm Tornado" to distinguish it from the 9.3x70 based on the .404 case, eh?

Hey, there was a .375/404 back in the 1920s too, eh?

My homemade dies have worked well tor the .375/.338LM, so I have not bothered to get Redding to make those yet.
But since you Germans stood me up on that die set, I may have to get Redding to make it. Wink

pintoguy,
366 DGW blows it by using the full length (2.900") .416 Rigby case length instead of the 2.724" length of the Lapua.
This totally blows the "magic ballistic balance" of the 9.3x69mm Tornado. Wink

I understand that the old 9,3's have their charm, but why anybody today would want to neck down a .375 ormake brand new cats in .366 is beyond me.
To each his own, jadajadajada, but what does the .366 do better than the .375? I know that can be said about all cal.gaps, but in this case the .375 is legal all over, while the .366 is not.
