Looking for a Pre 64 for a hunting rifle and I live in Alaska and would use it up here with a few whitetail in Mn thrown in and found this,is this a good thing and what are the pro's & cons of using this rifle, I'm looking for a Pre 64 m70. was 300 HH. Now 300 Weatherby. Jeweled bolt. Absolutely gorgeous exhibition grade stock. fiddleback with streaks down both side of butt. fitted by prof gunsmith. checkered by Kimber of Oregon head checker. rosewood tips. 3-9 wide angle Redfield. | ||

Sounds like a wonderful rifle, I would worry about that pretty wood when hunting tho'. If it were mine, I would get a synthetic or laminate stock for the kicking around jobs, and leave the good wood for show time. The 300 Wby will work on pretty much anything you want it to. Great long range gun for sheep, goats, deer and moose. I'd even take one after grizz with heavy bullets. The collector value of the gun is pretty much gone because of the rechamber, but it would make a great hunting rifle. - Dan | |||
