Clarence I have thought of that but its bedded tight to the stock. While reshapeing the bbl is a good idea I don't know how much of a gap it will leave between the bbl and stock. It might end up looking like an ugly free float.

Lilja has a barrel wt calculator at their website. I ran 24" barrel and fluted was 0.66 lbs lighter (std was around 4.4 lbs)
