I have a barrel for a mauser stamped BROGNE 6x61. After making a chamber cast, it appears to be a 6x61 Sharpe & Hart. Is 7x61 S&H brass available any where? I haven't been able to locate any on the net. Will the 6x62 Frere work, and is it available? It appears that the European Company MEN is the only maker, and I cannot find them on the net.

I believe that Norma still makes 7 X 61 S&H ammo and brass. Availability on this side of the pond is pretty spotty though. - Dan

I believe the 7x61 would use the same basic case as the 7mm rem mag. Looking at the book it looks like a matter of resizing and triming. They sell a forming die but, I don't see why you would need it.

Well

If you don't mind a different headstamp, call Buz Huntington. He will make you a die to reform 7mm rem cases to 7X61. I know several who uses it and works fine.

Norma still has cases and it would't surprise me if they have some ammo too

7X61 is a very nice caliber. 281 different speices of game says it all
