I have one on a 1910 mex action.
I have one load I use, a 235 speer at just shy of 2600 fps. That is not a max load, but was all I was looking for out of the cartridge. I do have it throated to take advantage of the 3.1" mag box.

Very similar in performance to the 9.3x62. I would imagine best used in a long action or intermediate action throated long enough to not intrude into the powder space. I recall Jim Kobe once mentioning that 284win based rounds work well in 1909 Argentine with little feed work.

FISH!!

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

I built one years ago on a remington 722 with a 20" barrel used 235 speers and 225 hornadys. Shot very well and a lot flatter than one would expect, great for mid range deer and elk. Had a deer size plate at 500yds and it would really ring it a pleasure to pack and shoot . If interested I could look up my load data. Lynn

I'm all for wildcats but why not just go with the 376 Steyr? Load light if you want.

As usual just my $.02

I built a 358/284 and it almost duplicated a 35 Whelen in a Savage 99..I did this because I found a 99 with a scratched chamber from the owner trying to remove a stuck case, and got it for a song..It built up into a nice gun at a cheap investment..eventually custom stocked it and sold it.

I built a 375/9.3x62 but named it a 9.5x62..Openned a 9.3x62 up to handle .375 bullets, no other changes..It duplicated my preferred .375 H&H Cape Buffalo load with a 300 gr. bullet at 2400 to 2500 FPS and that was max. My .375 H&H preferred handloads duplicated that but at less pressure...You can push that load about 2600 plus in a std. 375 H&H, but I have found you get better bullet performance on buffalo at 2500 FPS velocity, added penetration and more perfect expansion as well as a preponderance of exit holes, which I like. As a result of these tests I loaded both calibers to 2500 FPS and got outstanding results on buffalo..Add to this the 350 gr. GS Custom HP or flat nose solid at an additional 100 FPS in the H&H and 100 FPS less in the 9.5x62 and the results get even better..
