The 7mm stw is a tough 7 to beat. Its been my exp. that the 7mm rum only out does the stw by 60-70 fps using 15-18 grains more powder. I would stay with a case that is close to the stw or smaller. I have two of them, one with a 1in8 twist finsihed at 28 inches and one with a 1in9 finished at 27. I get 3375 with the 1in8 with 160 grain accubonds, and 3520 with 140 grain triple shocks with the 1in9. Works for me. Cheers! | |||

Why not just use a 7x61 SH or a 7MM Van Hoffman Or 7MM super Van Hoffman.... Or go a 7 MM based on the 9.3x64 case | |||

7 STW is hard to beat like mentioned above, I also get 3530av.fps out of Wby Accumark with Imr7828-83gr Max 140gr Nos-Part.  Brass is also easy to get, and I have had the best luck with Winchester Brass and Fed-215 Primers. | |||

I have a real good friend that has rifles chambered in #2,3, and 4. I would have to say the 7/338RUM is his favorite. He killed an antelope with it this year at over 500yds. He says the rifle just flat screams. A 7/300WM AI is one of my next rounds. Dont really need it as i have a 280AI. But when did need ever dictate a new rifle purchase  ? | |||

Berger makes VLD's in 168 and 180gr. JLK use to make both weights also. Carterussio (sp?) also makes some VLD bullets for the 7. | |||

That done, you may or may not be able to find a hunting bullet that will fit in your mag and also enjoy the ride out to the lands while still going where you point it. I personally have no attachment to Sundra's decisions on throat, taper, etc. He used standard specs, I'm sure, to try and work well for most bullets, but if you're loking for a long-range paper puncher, it's a good idea to treat it a little differently. That said, if there's a bore rider out there that fits the need, then you can certainly save some money that way. | |||

Richard Corbin's finishing up some swage die's set's for bore rider's now .all big bore stuff. The die's are not that much that run about 750.00 to 950.00 pre set but the kicker is you would need a bigger swage press . atleast a Bench Master size .thats about 3500.00 Or go the hyrdo full unite at about 7500.00 or Have him custom build you a bigger hydro press for a great deal more Duo Diam bullet's have there place.. it's that there place is slowly disapering More were for older double's Anyway that's my 2 1/2 cent's | |||

You might give some thought to the 7 Mashburn Super, I'm on my 3rd tube and it is kind of a neat old round. I use 300 win cases. I do enjoy mine and it will be in the scabbard starting Wed for a bruin hunt for me and my wife. "GET TO THE HILL" Dogz | |||
