Taking advice from Jack and dozen others, and checking on availability of cases, making changes. My 499 HE will now be based on 450 #2 brass as the supply 475#2 brass it was made from before isn't there., And doesn't look as if it will be in good supply or get run done at any mfg here in states that is convenient and a good price, for a long time. Back in the 90s when I first did the case I couldn't find 450 #2 that I wanted, so I got 475 #2. Now it is opposite only better as they made a big run o 450 #2, when I was told they was to do 475 #2. So 450 #2 Cases are in good supply at Jamison for less than 4 bucks each. And I had thought all along that it was 475 #2 that they had. I'm slipping I guess. The only case difference will be the base reduced from .577" to .565", All other dimensions the same. It will still have good taper for extraction in doubles, singles and falling blocks. And I'm getting reamer reground to new base size. And that reamer will be available in 2-3 weeks for guys to use free. Got a few lined up for this winter and the change will help. Jamison has 3-4000 450 #2 cases, which seems to be 50 times the number of available 475 #2s in the country. This will make so much easier getting guns setup and shooting.Ed MZEE WA SIKU | |||
