Dan, Think Bob Hagel always preferred the heavier 7mm bullets like the 160 and 175 grain Noslers for the Super Mashburn. Didn't see much reason for the lighter bullets with so much powder. But it seems the factory loadings for the 7mm STW and 7mm Rem Ultra Mags tend towards the lighter bullets like the 140 grainers. The factories must think of the big 7s as long range deer and antelope guns instead of elk rifles. Currently have 7mm STW, 7mm/300 Weatherby, and 7mm Rem Ultra Mags. If sure was getting a match for Hagel's 7mm Super Mashburn, would order it. But some shops say they have a 7mm Super Mashburn reamer, but really have something else. On an irrelevant note, have a 6mm/06 Mashburn with an 8-inch twist 30-inch long barrel. Hammer

I use 2.625, Mark. | |||

The cartridge length is 2.635. It is a necked down .300 Win mag case that is run thru a forming die. They can also be formed from .300 H&H cases, but it is a lot more trouble.

I am a big time fan of the 7 Mashburn Super and was just wondering if any of you are into the same round? Many thx for your time. "GET TO THE HILL" Dogz

I have three barrels chambered for this round and use Hagel's loads with IMR 7828 w/o any problem.

I'm on my 3rd tube, to date for me Hagle's loads have always been a bit stout, but I do come darn close. I also mainly use 7828 as well. This year my rifle took 2 elk and 3 lopes, so far. I have one last cow trip this weekend and then it is on to yotes. For me the 7 Mash Super has been one heck of a yote/chuck rifle!!! A few years back I was lucky enough to ge to know Bob, he was super to me and incredibly patient with a young kid wanting to learn it all. So...it pretty much sealed it that I'd be a 7 MS after getting to know him! What do you use for a trim length of the case? Gracias Dogz

I hate to ask stupid questions, but is the Super a full length H&H case or is it cut to 2.5"? Seems like there was a long and short version of the Mashburn mag. I thought Page and Hagel both used the 2.5" version, but am probably wrong.
