Hi guys,
I posted this on the "big bore" forum also. I was wondering if there is a wildcat that is based on the .338 Winchester Magnum necked up to hold .375 diameter bullets. If so where could one find loading data and ballistics for such a cartridge. It would appear that if this cartridge exists, the performance level would fall somewhere in between the 9.3 x 62 and a .375 H&H. Plus it would fit in a standard length action.

Thanks for any help guys...X

So Darrel, what part of Georgia? My hometown was Brunswick, I have many fond memories of chasing wild hogs & WhiteTails in the Altamaha River swamps, not to mention the fantastic salt water fishing way back then. The family house was 300 yards from salt water.

I have an article on the 375/338, let me know if you need a copy.

Actually, the 375 Chatfield-Taylor differs somewhat in dimension from a 375-338, but for reloading sake, they are the same. Mine is on a Win M70 w/ a 21" McGowen barrel.

I've tried RL15, Varget and 4064 in mine. They all work well. I can get an honest 2,500 fps (Oehler 35) with 66.0 grains of 4064 or Varget and the 300 gr partition. I go about 2,700 fps with the 270 gr bullet and 70-71 grains of RL 15. I could go higher, but it's all my whimpy shoulder can take.

There's some loads you can also check out at this site:

BW's 416 Taylor Website

Go to the website and click on reloading data. It is take you to the 375-338/375 C-T data.
