Thinking about doing a 40 Caliber rifle on a 9.3x64 or 416 Ruger.

I'd like to shoot 250-320 grain VLDs out of it.

The reason I am thinking 10.3 is the Swiss already have VLD bullets in that size.

Without throwing alternative cases into the mix…it seems like the easy answer is the availability of the respective cases. If you’re in Europe then the x64 case will likely be readily available compared to the .375/.416 Ruger case; the inverse is true if you’re in the USA.

Your right.

416 Rugers are $1 per case

9.3x64's are $35 per 20.

I live in Australia now, but I'll be in America by the time I get it built.

I'd just shoot it as a 416 Ruger, but I haven't seen any light VLDs for 416.

A Ruger #1 in 416 Ruger would work well for 450 Grain .416 VLDS.

The GS Custom HV in 416 is 330 and in a 416 Rem sized case will go 2800fps.
