I am not a reloader! I have a chance to pick up a MOA single shot pistol in 6.5X284. I love the pistol but not in this caliber. Can this pistol be rechambered to any commericaly loaded cartridge? I was thinking (hoping) .260 Rem, 6.5 Rem Mag or ????? Thanks for any advice.

Hornady does make ammo, but I'm told (and this is second hand info, so take it for what it's worth) that there is enough of a dimensional difference that one can't be used in the other. On the other hand, Hornady brass will be a lot easier to get and much less expensive. - Dan

There is no difference between a 6.5x284 and 6.5x284 Norma. They both work in the same gun. I know because i have one and I have had this conversation with other people in this forums before. Specs are almost identical, but both fit the chamber. I use custom 6.5 Norma and 6.5 Win chambered for the Winchester thats why I know. You could have a 265 Win Mag made into it but brass is hard to find.
Don't really know what to tell you except for have a gunsmith look at it and give you suggestions to your questions. If you go to a gunsmith he may have good solid responses to you ideas. He should be able to rechamber or install a new barrel if that is the case.
