Have decided to build a 6.5-06, actually just rebarreling a mauser sporter that was a 6.5x55. I recently got a CZ550 in 6.5x55 and really didnt see the need to have 2 swedes in the safe.

I was wondering what you guys are getting for actual velocity with your 6.5-06's using 100gr-140gr bullets,and what powders are working the best for you?

I run the improved version. I can get 3000fps with 140's and have gotten more. The 6.5's seem to fall into accuracy nodes between 2900 and 2950ish for me. They can be pushed faster, but I see accuracy in the 29's.

I have been using 59.0/RL22/140 Sierra Gameking for over 10 years in mine and it is great. This might be hot in yours as I have mine specially throated so BEWARE!! Very accurate and clean killing. The Hornady 129s shoot excellent too. I HIGHLY recommend the cartridge!
