| What's the concern about any bullet "using up powder space" in any cartridge? All bullets use up powder space.
What should us 260 Rem owners do?
I don't recall Sheldon or Bell being concerned about the powder space being used up with 160 gr bullets in the 6.5-54 MS. |

| These bullets will, indeed use up some powder space if this is built on a Remington short action. You can expect around 3050-3100 on that action. A longer action and longer COL will yield around 3200. However, each gun is a law unto itself. Regards, Eagleye |

| I used a med 700 action for my first 6/284 next one did on a long action. My 6.5/284 is on a win action. You have to seat the bullet in so far and lose the case capacity so why use the 284 case. Don't own one but think you would get about the same results with a 260 or 6.5x55. I've seen where the reciever has been notch to handle the longer bullet on a med 700 action but for the extra cost why not go with a long action to start with. Just my .02 worth! Good luck! |
