I'd push for the 6x45mm, nice little cartridge. I color-code mine by using nickel plated cases to distinguish them from the .223 for the Mini-14, although I'd probably do that anyhow regardless of headstamps.

The 6mm-284 is another fine rig, not sure if it really needs to be legitimized. 6.5-284 is well on its way to being commercialized and probably deserves that status.

You are great at pulling our leg. Every "wildcat" you mention is a great commercial round. Reflects the fact that very few wildcats exist anymore that actually fill a niche that you cannot fill with a commercial cartridge. Hell. Even the odd-ball and rare cartridges that went out of production can be bought with proper head stamps from some place off the internet anymore.

The big exception is a good .35 wildcat is still hard to find.

If I wanted to actually move a lot of brass, and at the same time help out a lot of shooters, I'd forget the small niches of the market which own any particular one (or 5) wildcats.

I'd sell properly headstamped BASIC cylindrical (un-necked) brass of a length which would allow folks to make darned near any wildcat or factory round ever produced on certain head sizes and styles.

At this moment, my five basic choices would be:

    1. Basic Newton brass, stamped "Newton Basic", and being 3.00" long

    2. Basic .450 Nitro brass, stamped ".450 Nitro Basic", and being 3.5" long

    3. Basic '06 brass, stamped "1906 Basic", and being 2.75"long (great for the Gibbs series, among others).

    4. Basic H&H belted brass, headstamped "Basic Belted Mag", and being 3.00" long.

    5. Basic 416 Rigby brass, stamped ".416 basic", and being 3.25" long.

None of the brass would come necked to any diameter, but it would all be properly annealed so it could be easily necked & trimmed by the purchaser.

Then, if I was to ever add to the line, I'd do so with the basic .222 Rimmed (but of 50 m/m length, basic .30-30 or .38-55 of 2.5" length, basic .50-110 brass of 2.75" length, and basic PPC of 45 m/m length. There's probably other basic lines which would sell too, but that's enough for the moment to make the point, I figger.

    Ted 68,

I reckon they are a wildcat for a reason. Arguably it's not so cool to own a 25-06 as opposed to a 25 Neider.

Instead of figuring out what cases to hold as "stock", I reckon you should focus on finding a way to produce properly headstamped brass to order for whatever the client wants at a price cheap enough that makes forming your own a marginal exercise. I know easier said then done.

    Good luck with your project.

    Regards
    JohnT
