This is in answer to one poster..from "Wildcat Cartridges" by Richard Simmons..."The design of the .30 Newton case was far ahead of its time. If the modern powders of today had been available when Newton designed this case, it would have made a combination that in all probability would have satisfied even Newton. At the present time the modern trend in case design is to make cases of straighter body taper, more abrupt shoulder angle, and longer neck. All of these features were incorporated into the .30 Newton case many years ago. It is a fine case in every way, and even though old in years, it is still new in design and results." In the old Speer Manual: "...the .30 Newton and one which in a good many ways is superior to the .300 Magnum." One valued poster mentioned "nostalgia" of the Newton cartridges..but nostalgia implys familiarity from old days...I'm sorry, I wasn't around in 1918, so its not nostalgia for me. What it is, simply, is the Newton cartridges are superior in their class, even today. The problem arose when the pure enthusiast, great cartridge designer, Chas Newton had his cartridges only in his rifles...
proprietary. And due to lack of business acumen, his company failed after only a few years. So went the cartridges, as no major arms company, Remington, Winchester, etc. chambered his cartridges...if they did, we would probably all be shooting .30 Newtons instead of .300 magnums. But having said that, it doesn't diminish his great cartridge designs. I think with Mr. Jamison supporting us enthusiasts & realizing the cartridges are more than worthy...there will be custom rifles chamnbered for the Newton cartridges. The famed Jack Lott of .458 Lott fame, once wrote an article entitled "The Return of the .30 Newton". All of the greats, Fred Barnes, Neidner, Ackley, Gipson, and on & on...all had the highest praise for Newton Cartridges. Its great that recognition is again being done & new brass being made of the Newton cartridges...Mr Jamison, as an individual Newton Enthusiast & Advocate...I sincerely appreciate you making new brass! Best Regards, Tom

Tom, you can bet there will be a rash of wildcats on these cartridges. I still want to know how your .416 Newton works out.

Don: My .416 Newton is ready to go...waiting on
custom dies for it...then can form cases &
reload. The .416 Taylor reloading data
will be appropriate.
I'll let you know soon as I get going...
the dies should be here soon.
Best Regards,
Tom

If I said that I didn't give a fig, would you throw things at me?
