For some reason I had a thought of pushing a 6MM 100gr partition up to at least 3500FPS. What is out there that could do that? Actually at that speed a barnes X or Lost river might be the only thing that would not turn inside out as soon as it left the barrel...

My .240 Incinerator will get a 100 grain bullet to 3,800 fps and a 70 to 4,400 fps (using surplus powder and a 28.5" barrel). The round is basically a 6mm Atlas improved (.264 Mag necked to 6mm and blown out). It's also similar to the 6mm Mach IV which was developed around the same time. There's an article on the Incinerator posted to my website if you're interested. Lee Martin www.singleactions.com

I have tested a 270 win with a 100 gr 6mm Hornady and a .243/.277 sabot at 3540 fps. Beats the hell out of a custom wildcat burning 90 grs of powder...

Sabot, When are you gonna start selling these sabots of yours? You keep talking about them . But for now a custom wildcat is the only way us mortals are going to send a 6mm bullet that fast. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

I'd love to see Sabots that would allow shooting say... a 95grain nosler partition from a 30-06? The bullet plus the weight of the sabot at.... 3500fps would be an effective combo if it had any accuracy... AllanD If I provoke you into thinking then I've done my good deed for the day! When the Remington sabot rounds came out a few years ago I tried to get some sabots from Remington. They wouldn't let me have any at that time. One fellow took some soild nylon rods and tuned them down on a small lathe and then drilled them out. He also cut the slots needed. Then he pushed a .223 FMJ botail to 5800 fps. I think the group was 1/1/2 inches. I suppose you could make any sabot you wanted this way. Just need to keep measurments right. And I don't know how thin the sabot could be and still work ok. Would be something to try. I would like to see a 6MM bullet pushed out by a 458 with a sabot. Hey why not?
