Hey all thought you guys might like to see my newest rig.. Its a 6.5x300SAUM improved to a 37° shoulder with a .297 neck.. Masterclass stock, Rem 700 S/A, Shilen 31" #7 HV contour 8 twist, Lupey 8.5x25. pic of loaded round with a 142SMK 200 yard load development with the 142gr SMK and H-4831 Pics of my first 1000yard comp with this rig.. Didnt do to bad but didnt win either LOL.. Shot a 9.927" 10 shot group.. Needless to say I am very happy with the way she performs!!! So far I been having the best luck with H-4831 and H-1000.. Both work well with the 142SMK and the 140A-max.. I did try and run the 95gr Vmax but blew them up as soon as they hit 3500fps!!! Reach out an touch something!!!

Hey Brock!! Beautiful rifle. Wish I knew how to work the picture thing so I could post my 6.5 SAUM. It`s the standard version in a kevlar stock, Shilen XX barrel[#2] and a Rem 7 action. I cut it short at 22" and am getting good accuracy with the Sierra 140 bullets. My main goal was to make a lightweight, short 264 Win Mag. Mission accomplished! I am using the Benchmark and H-414 powders now. Have you experienced any real bad fouling with the 1000? I got it and put the can away. Benchmark seems to be the best so far with velocities going into the 3275 area with the 140s. You sure have a nice looking rifle. Good luck with the calibre/shooting. Mark What load are you using in Benchmark to get that kind of speed with a 140???? Now I am not running the guts out of mine but with a 31" tube I am only getting 3050.. As for fouling with 1000 its not bad at all.. I found out that this gun likes to shoot DIRTY.. I clean about every 75 rounds and when I do it dont take much to get it nice and clean... I am running 60gr of H-1000 started off at 57 and whent up from there.. Tried H-4350 but hit heavy pressure @ 55gr. 4350 gave me 3150fps @ 55gr. but wont shoot that load again.. Primers were protruding when using that load.. If you are getting 3200fps with Benchmark I may have to try that!!! Best accuracy that I have found is in the 3050 range.. Reach out an touch something!!!

Dear 6.5 Bandit, I am using 57.9 grs Benchmark and getting the 3200 fps+ i spoke of. Not too happy with the accuracy though as it`ll only do about 1" at 100-200 yds. I tried RL-22 and got better accuracy at 57.9 but only 3100 fps. Ramshot Magnum seems to be the best so far with 65.0 and 3200 fps. Now!! These were safe in MY rifle but you better work up to your own max and not got directly to my loads as ALL were MAX in my rifle. Good luck . Finally, some one using the 6.5 SAUM! I posted awhile ago looking for some early adopters of this combination. Thanks for the info. Time to go to the safe and pick a rifle to rebarrel. RELOAD - ITS FUN!

Good looking round & rifle. I actually like the SAUM rounds a bit better than the WSM, seems like a better fit in a M700. I would think slower powders would be the way to go for that round. I use IMR7828ssc in my .260ai & get 2830fps from my 27" PacNor bbl. w/o any pressure signs. It's about the same burning rate as H1000. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

Good Idea!! Why neither of the biggies.....ESPECIALLY REMINGTON didn't adopt this chambering to their short mags is a mystery to me! Butch Keen of Pennsylvania, (Keen's Videos "POINT BLANK AT LONG RANGE" video series) built a 6.5x300SAUM this year and he won pretty good at the 1000 Yard World Open with it on July 9th an 10th!!! I like a couple posters above like the design of the SAUM over the WSM for the fact it is more conducive to wildcatting if you want to do it!! I like the 300SAUM just as it is!! I shot a 14", 10 shot group at Williamsport with a "bone stock" Remington Sendero in 300SAUM back on June 14th using 168 grain Speer Gold Matches and Varget powder! That told me the rifle probably needed to be worked with a bit!! Or was worth at least further consideration! Beautiful rifle you've got there!!! Have fun at Williamsport!!
