I was just getting ready to buy Quickload, when I ran into a program called Load From a Disk (www.loadammo.com). I have used neither, but based on their respective web sites, it looks like Load From A Disk is much for advanced. For those that have some experience with both, which one do you like better? My main interest is internal ballistics and load development using different powders. Thanks, Kory

I have neither, but that's just b/c I can't afford QuickLoad at the moment. LFD doesn't allow you to specify chamber pressures (I think it's set at 40k PSI) nor powders (it just gives you a selection of its recommended powders for the case/bullet.) From what I've seen, QL is the one, if'n you got the green for it.

I have both programs and for me, quickload is what i use because of its flexibility and mathematical basis. As jeffe says, you can change just about any variable associated with internal ballastics, including modifying the burning characteristics of the powders and fit to your measured data, etc. For example. I wanted to develop reduce load using 300g Hawk bullets, xmp5744 powder for my 416 rigby but no data available. I "fit" the powder to published data for cartridges of similar capacity, etc and then worked up my loads. Here are some results for increasing charge weight: Quickload................. 2172 2199 2226 2253 2280 Measured Avg Velocity 2183 2216 2242 2238 2275 regards, steve PS i can use quickload, no problem, but getting formatted data to line up here taxes me
