Picked up my new rifle yesterday ! Actually ,its not a new rifle at all, its my old model 70 classic. But it has a new barrel in 280 ack imp 40. The barrel is 230 inches and my smith gave it a model 70 featherweight contour. Its a douglas. I got a set of RCBS full length dies, some prformed brass nickel and regular. I played around with the pre formed brass and somehow the previous owner managed to open the mouth to where the bullet is way to loose. I pulled the decapping pin and ran some up into the size die and It closed them back down to a point but the case mouth fit is very inconsistant, and it just will not do. thin I will seoerate the depriming and resizing operation with a decaping die. I loaded some 139 grain Hornady bullets over Varget for a forming load,I just used the old close the bolt onto a long seated round to set the depth method mounted my spare scope and I think I will head off into the woods just to fire form 5 or six to make sure everything works ok. I will let you no ! ...tj3006 freedom1st | ||
