What velocities could one expect from this combination and a 22 inch barrel? Would a 220 grain bullet be useful in a short action? Thanks.

8 mm 220 gr is a long bullet and 284 case for short action eed bullet seat deep so that not the best way to

get hight velocity
low velocity spread
be able to crimp in the factory cannelure

best is to go with a medium action as M98 size and take a 300 WSM or a RSUM case

35 shoulder case are not "machine gun" feeding so check before if your mag box is OK for the body taper

good shooting

This would be about the same as an 8mm/'06.

I think a 350 RM would be a good one to neck down to 8mm for use in a short action.

The .350 Rem. would be OK, but it essentially duplicates the .284 case, capacity-wise. I consider the .284 case superior, because it has NO BELT!! ALL the magnum cases would be better, if the belts were left off!! [Big Grin]

It would work if you throated the barrel enough to accept the 220 gr bullet seated in such a way that case capacity wasn't compromised.

The performance should parallel the 8mm-06.
