Sorry about that, it was Reloader 15...so used to using RL22 for damned near everything else I reload!
The barrel was locally made in a town near here, so it doesn't carry a "name" that would be recognized. The barrelmaker, I have heard, studied under Ackley some time in the past, I can't say as to the truth of this story but is what I was told. It's a stainless barrel that is beadblasted for a dull finish.
Before the scope started moving around too much, it was grouping 1.5" or so at 100 yards. I punched these new numbers into a ballistics calculator, and it is shooting almost as flat as my 300WinMag using 190 grain BTSP's at 3050 fps.......only 4 inches lower at 500 for example, with 4935 ft/lbs of muzzle energy! Real cool.

Loaded up some 260 grain Accubonds for the Taylor this week, and the weather finally co-operated and let me go to the range without being rained/sleeted/snowed on. The joys of living up North.
The 2 loads consisted of 70 grains of IMR4064, and 72 grains of RL15. The average for the 70 grains of 4064 was 2887fps, and the average for 72 grains the RL22 was 2945fps. I am thinking to myself, is this normal? It seems pretty high in the speed department, without any pressure signs at all. I must say it has a 'little' bit of a boot to her, though not at all unmanageable. I've shot lightweight 30-06's that beat me up more!
My rifle is a Tikka M595 action with synthetic stock, rebarreled with a 25" tube. I won it in a raffle for the Minor Hockey Association in town, 40 bucks a ticket. It came with a cheap-ass Bushnell scope though, which either is loosening in the mounts, or the cross hairs are going wonky. I upgraded the rings that came with it to Sako's, but it looks to me that the scope has 'migrated' back about 1/4". I may need to take it apart and re-mount it so that it doesn't continue to move.
So needless to say, I can't actually tell you what kind of groupings the Accubonds give, as I noticed the scope movement and didn't feel like wasting too many bullets in the process. The chronie tells me that I think I am pretty good at this load, and once I get the scope to behave, I will wring it out a bit. I did shoot my moose last year with this rifle, with 260 gr Ballistic Tips, and it did quite a number on it. Which is why I went to Accubonds, so to not have a bullet 'explode' as I felt the BT did.....

CampX,

Just for clarity, was it RL-15 or RL-22? What brand of barrel? Twist rate?

For 40$ + a bbl, you ain't done bad at all with that rig. Sounds like a nice one.

Thanks,
Dungbeetle

Thanks. That is "launching" them out there with 260's and sounds like a heck of a moose/elk/bear rig. You're gonna like the field performance of those Accubonds.
