I am looking into building a 22-243 Middlested. Just wondering if anyone has any info, such as velocities obtained, powder used, bullets etc. Any info greatly appreciated.

I have a Rem 788 chambered in 22-243 Middlestead. 27" barrel. 45 gr of RL19 gives me 3600 fps with a Hornady 55 gr V-max. She'll go a lot faster with that bullet weight (4000 fps), but that's the most accurate load. - Dan

For me it has been difficult getting reloading information on the Middlestad and light weight bullets. I want a long range coyote rifle to take out when the snow is crusty and I can't get within 400 yards of a coyote without him hearing me. Normally my 17 Rem and 222 mag imp will suffice out to nearly 400 yards. Also, I've wanted to use a Hodgdon extruded powder. Their extruded powders have a label on them that says "Extreme". This means "temperature insensitive". Anyway, I've settled on 48 grains of H4350 and a 52 grain Berger MEF bullet at 4165 '/sec. IMR 4320 behind a 40 grain Berger will start out faster (4450), but by 100 yards the 52 bullet takes over in the velocity department. And, by the way, anyone who is reading this could do the same for me.....list some ideas on small bullets in the Middlestad. Mike
