One of the best all around springers. Really can't go wrong with an R-9.

I've got 2 in .20 cal and I love them. Light, handy, and very well made.

New they go for about $450. The R-9 has a sterling reputation as one of the best German springers on the market, as Bill and gunsmoke attest.

I have a similar spring rifle but am not sure of the model. Sorry to hijack but I do not know a lot about air rifles other than a kid but seemed to remember you need special optics for them because of the recoil direction. can someone direct me to a reasonably priced scope for this rifle?

Thanks,

Larry

I looked at model and it is one of the cheaper ones a GT650 so it does not make sense to put much into it. Is this a decent air rifle?

Big Bear---You asked for a reasonably priced scope. If you buy a scope that wont hold up and becomes trash then that's wasted money and replacing this type scope isn't reasonably priced. If the optics aren't clear they are useless. So spend a little over $300 for a Leupold compact 3x-9x with EFR. EFR being Extended Focal Range which means it has an adjustable objective lens and will focus down to air rifle ranges. Regular scopes without this are great on centerfires where the range is greater, but they are blurry at air rifle ranges. A few years back the scope I mentioned was $307 and on EBAY you NEVER saw a used one go under $275. Keep in mind some were several years old and were bought at less than $275. So you take the hit in the wallet initially, cry a little, it only hurts once, enjoy a great scope and you can always sell it for within $32 of what you paid---how much more reasonable do you want? Why buy a Mercedes and put a Yugo engine in it?

Ooopss--went back and reread and the scope is for a GT650---not the R9 originally mentioned. The Gt650 might be akin to a chrome plated roadgrader with a Leupold scope---but invest in that scope and you can use it on any air rifle as well as centerfires to include magnums.

Make sure you buy a scope made for air rifles.

As I understand it the reverse recoil will destroy even the best of high dollar rifle scopes over time.
