I have an old Crossman 600 CO2 pistol( it must be from the 1960's). I got it from my dad years ago, and used it when I was much younger. It sat in a drawer for at least 10 years. I got a wild hair and decided to get some cartridges and go out plinking. Apparently the CO2 cartridges have changed and they don't fit anymore. I contacted Crossman directly and they informed me that indeed the CO2's had changed and my gun was no longer functional. Is there anyone that has worked on these or developed an aftermarket retro fit? Thanks

Hugh

post your question on the Gateway to Airguns forum or the Yellow forum. lots of tuners post on both( as well as people knowledgeable about older airguns). google search for either will turn up the web address.

I have two 600's, both work with current co2 carts.

The older style CO2 cart was the 8 gram cartridge, new are 12 gram. All 600's I have seen use 12gram. mine are the first series so I doubt that there are any 8 gram 600's

Sounds like there is another problem, such as a bad seal preventing full insertion. Crosman no longer supports these but several shops will reseal them. Seems odd that they would say what they did but never the less they are a fun little pistol to shoot.

I had mine resealed by Mac 1, Tim does fine work and the family run shop has been open for a couple of generations.

A Crosman 600 is well worth the price of a reseal. Keep in mine that there are several parts that are known to wear and no replacement are available, linkage parts. before shooting remove the side plate and make sure that the linkage is clean and well lubed, ckeck the barrel and carrier for stuck pellets common problem when the CO2 runs low. Above all do not force the action, if binding something is wrong.

give Tim a call he'll set your 600 straight

Tim is absolutely one of the best "tuners" for crossman products as well as making a damn fine rifle of his own.
