I think this was at the Whittington center white buffalo target. Anyway, I can and have shot this well in my sleep. Unfortunately, that was only in my dreams.

I don't believe it.

We need pellet weight and velocity and tank pressure to work it out.

Otherwise this is pure bullshit.

I don't know all the specifics, but I did see a walk through video that says around 1000 fps. I don't think it was a typical skirted pellet, but rather a spitzer cast projectile. For what it's worth, there were quite a few observers there as well as the spotters. At best, it must've been an incredibly calm day. This was at an event hosted by Lucid optics, so I think it might've been legitimate.

I have been shooting all my life.

Air rifles and bigger calibers.

I have several 30 caliber air rifles.

Just got one 0.58 caliber.

Still not convinced.

As the old saying goes, if it swims like a duck….

I have been thinking about this.

It IS a joke.

The pellet will never make it that far!

You would have to aim the rifle like a mortar. The target would be completely out of the scope’s field of view.

Walked onto a number of shooters.

They had an American, who claimed to be from some special services!

He was telling everyone they shoot 9mm pistol at targets 1000 yards away.

Told him he was a liar too! clap

I can't defend it as I wasn't there, but as far as the "pellet" not making it that far,a 22lr has a range of a mile or so when fired at a 45 degree angle. I'd think one of the cast 30 cal bullets (not skirted flat nose pellets) fired at the claimed 1060fps (no idea of this velocity is possible) would have a similar range. He did say he couldn't see the target but used a tree branch as his point of aim.
As far as the long range 9mm shots, I 2atched a video of Jerry miculec shooting one at 1000 yards. Probably a lot of shots were edited out. The best handgun shot I can claim is about 400 yds ( no range finders back then) on a running coyote with a super blackhawk 44 mag. It was a true Hail Mary shot and I was as surprised as my companions. To me, 100 yards is a LONG handgun shot.

Just for a laugh.

I entered 90 grain pellet at 1000 fps.

Drop at 2100 yards is about 1,500 feet!??

IF it EVER gets there! rotflmo

Not a pellet, it was a 155 grain spitzer.
The shot was not only possible, there is not doubt it happened.
But repeatable? The day someone does it twice with two consecutive shots I'll believe that all politicians are honest.

Ok.

I changed the calculations to 155 with a BC of 0.48 and a velocity of 1000 fps.

Drop is still around 600 feet! clap

Here's another "mile shoot" that leaves me quite unimpressed. If it takes you 20 pitches to throw a strike, does that make you a good pitcher?

Bill,

That old saying "if it swims like a duck, quacks like a duck, it IS a duck" is true of a lot of things on Youtube.
