I mentioned that I was going to test some pellets in an air gun. Suddenly, various airguns started arriving here, with more pellets. Got 6 rifles so far, in both 22 and 25 caliber, and dozens of different pellets. What an eye opener! Some pellets shoot so well, others are almost like a shotgun pattern! I will post my results once I am done. ![]()

GREAT! I always look forward the the results from your usual thorough testing. Are you going to test slugs as well as pellets? I can not wait to see if one pellet comes out as most precise, most often, independent on the rifle. I will say what I expected after you post your results Don't limit your challenges . . . I got every available ammo, from every make being sold here. They include pellets and slugs. Finished testing two rifles, both are URAGAN. One in 25 and one in 22 caliber. I like them, very powerful and very accurate with certain ammo. Tried to se how many rounds I can fire with one tank. The tank takes 300 bar. Tried tis in the 22 caliber gun. Filled it, marked a target at 25 yards, and started shooting. 200 rounds later, and at 100 bar left, all pellets went into a ragged hole about a half inch!!?? At 80 bars the pellets started dropped a bit. I am amazed one can shoot 200 pellets accurately with one tank. Next is a Daystate Delta Wolf. This one is in 22 caliber, and has an electronic trigger, and a built in chronograph. Just put a scope on it. Will report later.

Have you run any of these over the chronograph? I see all sorts of claims by the sellers about high muzzle velocities but I have always wondered? C.G.B.

I did. Then gave up. My chronograph finds hard to measure pellets. I am using an Oehler in the tunnel.

Update. A Daystate Delta Wolf, which is an electronic system and has a built in chronograph, turned out to be a total disaster. I tried shooting it as is, fired a few shots then it refused to fire. Telling me the pressure is too low. Indicated pressure is showing almost 200 bar!!?? I got the handbook downloaded, and went through the setting up. It has a touch screen, which turned out to be so fiddly, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Went through the operation several times, still nothing worked. You are supposed to be able to set the caliber, pellet weight, required velocity etc. Tried setting it back to factory settings, still the touch screen won't work. I gave up. Next was a BROCOCK rifle. Must be made by Daystate, as they use the same action and magazine, but not electronic. I installed the same scope I have been using on other rifles before - the URAGANs. Shot a few pellets trying to get it on target. No luck. Could not even hit the target board, which is a meter wide! I looked to find out what was going on. The scope is pointing in one direction, and the barrel in another. There is no way hell scope adjustments - or even shims, would work. Dar too much. Again, put that to the side and it is going back to the dealer. I will let you know what is next.

Here is my results for the URAGAN 25 caliber. Very nicely made gun, and easy to use. I like this model, I am going to keep both the 25 and the 22 calibers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have finished shooting the 22 caliber URAGAN too. Similar results. I thought I will try to see how many accurate shots I could fire with one tank. I filled the tank - 300 bar. This is the 22 caliber. I put a one of those 1/2 inch target circle stickers on a piece of paper, and proceed to shoot at it. I fired 204 shots by the time the pressure dropped to 100 bar. All pellets were in one egged hole. I was running out of pellets. So I kept firing without pellets till the pressure was around 70-80 bar. Then tried pellets. They were about an inch low. So for all it and purposes, this is a 200 pellet gun with one tank. Very impressive indeed! I have a 45 caliber air gun. 2 shots per tank!!

Interesting on the Ohler. I have a Labradar and have been able to clock .177 pellets and round balls without too much difficulty. I have to use it in the Doppler mode or use it with the external microphone. The gun is spring powered and the velocities are all in the 400-500 fps range. C.G.B.

I am shooting in a tunnel. Where nothing works except the Oehler. Labradar won’t work here.

They certainly are NOT slug guns. Wonder it a "slug barrel" would change those results? Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

I am not sure what is really happening. Others report getting very good results with slugs, in the same rifles wit the same barrels.

Received a number of rifles from a kind dealer to test. They are in 17, 22, 25, 30 and 35 caliber. I have finished shooting the URAGAN 22 and am very impressed with it. Fantastic tank capacity, the position of the bolt and accuracy. Now shooting a TAIPAN VETERAN. Very small tank, awkward position of the bolt, tank shows less pressure than my scuba tank. Full repoprt will follow.

Found a cheap Polish made chronograph that works for these pellet guns. Very small box with a square hole one shoots through. I fired a few shots and it does work. I will run velocity shots at different pressures and see the results, for all rifles and pellets. I am thinking at full tank, 200 bar, 100 bar, and 50 bar.

The chronograph works very well. And I am surprised how well the regulators in at least this rifle work. Velocity variations never exceed 5 fps at any time. I have started on CZ TAIPAN VETERAN in 17 caliber. I found some old match pellets from H&N and couple from RWS. It those that came packaged individually. It will be interesting to see how these perform as compared to the new offerings. I am short of 400 bar hose, and my dealer promised to get me some next week What I normally do is make a separate charging hose for each rifle, with an attached on the other end that fits a scuba tank.

I am trying every type of pellets I can find. The Prometheus I got from England over 30 years ago! They are a piece of plastic with a metal ball in front. Supposed to be a penetrator. The target you see above I fired 10 shots. These are the only ones hit the target. Got some Beeman pellets which I will try as well.

Saeed: Give me a address (PM) and I will send you JSB Exact Premium pellets. Or whatever. I have friend with friend at JSB, so we can put together any sample I think. They make also "sample box" with different pellet and weights to test your rifle for the best one. Or we can send to you 4.48, 4.49, 4.50, 4.51 and 4.52 diameters of the same pellets for test... For anyone considering buying one of these PCP rifles, I really urge you to actually handle it before you buy. Preferably shooting it. They all work. But, they range from a pleasure to use, to being utterly useless. Some manufacturers make one model which is great, and another one so bad I would not buy it. Once I am done with this test, I will post my opinion of each one. Same goes for the charge fittings. There are generally two types. A male type that fits into a hole in the rifle, and a female type that fits over the valve. What surprises me the male type, which look all the same, is about an inch long rod with a two O rings. They all look the same. But vary in size by a few thousands??!! Why?
