I was gifted tonight a GAMO Shadow 1000 in good shape other than missing/broken sights. Clean bore. A friend's son effed up for the last time and so it's now mine... Needs a bit of a buff and cold-reblue because it wasn't kept oiled properly but that's just external finish issues. Synthetic stock is fine, will go through the whole gun, trigger bits and all, and clean everything up. Sight parts on order from GAMO to get that resolved. What's a fair price point for a very lightly used GAMO Shadow 1000 that's been essentially factory refurbished, by me? As I recall, they were about $275USD when new before discontinued and I doubt this one has seen a tin of 250 down the pipe. Either I sell it or keep it around for guests to shoot at cans. Maybe trade for interesting double rifle brass or Contender/Encore barrels...? Any guesses as to second hand value of a well fettled one of these? Or should I just stuff it in the closet for when somebody's kid comes out to visit with his folks and wants to shoot something and I don't trust him with the nice air rifles? I'm going to fix it up either way, just curious as to how other air rifle shots would view such a gun. It's not a great air rifle, it's a GAMO, but it's not a toy either so I shant throw it in the rubbish bin...

Maybe not too relevant, but a friend just sold a Gamo underlever new price £220, he got £80 hardly used. And a "Hawk" red dot thrown in so he got £100. The Hawk red dot could be the worst piece of junk I've ever seen. The scopes they do are bad but this thing looks like it came in a box of Cracker Jacks. I's not good enough to be a Kinder Egg toy. I'm thinking $75US or trade for interesting Contender/Encore barrel or interesting brass. Prolly end up selling it for $50US. Buy a few bricks of Eley rimfire from it at the least. Funny thing about red-dots...NcStars cost about $50US give or take a bit and seem about as good as anything else until you get into the $600+US range. I've got one for my .375 H&H Magnum T/C Encore pistol project and it's holding up fine to that level of abuse and, NO, I haven't hit myself in the face with it yet, though one sweaty handed day it came close...As my Seffrican friend and hunting buddy says..."you bloody Texans always have to go one bigger even if it doesn't really make sense as far as barrel length vs case capacity and ultimate performance"...and I said "Yup, guilty as charged me lord..." Then we went back to putting .177 holes in things. =] I like to think that every time I shoot it it makes Nancy Pelosi cry.

People just don't understand how BIG Texas is. It's big country, you need a big gun. "When doing battle, seek a quick victory."

Continuing off topic...I've yet to feel under gunned with a three seven five in my hand anywhere in the world. Newest project is a three seven five magnum nitro express, flanged. I found a bunch of ammo and brass in Kwa-Zulu Natal for one so I decided I have to build a rifle that shoots it. Something magical about cartridges that came in things stamped "For Holland and Holland and Westley Richards Double Rifles." Brings a broad grin to my face, and .375 isn't unreasonable on scrawny Central Texas deer who hardly live to be two because of vehicular traffic, either, if a bit overkill and is quite handy on the feral hogs. Encore pistol project was sort of like my friend putting a small block V-8 in a Ford 6N tractor so it'd do wheelies...beers were drank, an idea was forged, and it had to be done!
