Bought my grandson a Stoeger X3 Youth - 14" Brl. - it says maybe 450fps with lead pellets. Any suggestions for a target pellet? Very much appreciated. Will check back here, after the holiday. Happy Thanksgivng! - Nick

Always had very good accuracy results with JSB pellets.

I have shot literally tens of thousands of pellets in the last 7-8 years and overall have found H&N to be the best. The Match version of the standard pellet is the best of the lot. JSB will have more deformed skirts and weight variation consistently. I still shoot JSB for plinking but if I want better accuracy, I use H&N. Nick, the RWS Meisterkugeln pellets have been the best I've tried. Vey consistent. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Biebs - It was like receiving a Papal Dispensation, being granted the privilege of buying my grandson a "GUN". My, has the world changed since I was his age. But Grampa knows he wants it and he will be learning how to handle his rifle. Will he ever hunt? I fear not.

Yes, times have changed, for sure. Just try to keep him out of the "Save the Whales" protests :-)

Nick, The only way to find what shoots well in your rifle would be to try different ammo. In fact, I had a funny conversation with a friend about an air rifle I gave him a while back. We have all the pellets one can buy here, and when I gave him the rifle, he asked what shot well in the same model we had here. I told him to sit down and shoot as many different pellets as he wished. He sat and fired quite a lot of different groups, with over 20 types of pellets. He use our rifle - as his did not have a scope on it at the time. Anyway, he picked the best two pellets, and took a tin of each. This morning he called, and he said the pellets did not shoot worth a damn??!! So he passed by at lunch, and took a tin of each pellets we have, to see which one will shoot best in his rifle. I have had similar results with other air rifles too.

Nick, I'll just parrot what everyone else is saying, mainly because it is also my experience as well. Here is a sampler pack: http://www.straightshooters.co...r-.177-nonround.html I have to say that my RWS does not do too bad with generic Crossman pellets either. Also, my first break barrel air rifle as a child was a Winchester branded Feinwerkbau at pretty much the same power level as the one you are ordering and it served me well up into my teenaged years when I bought a sheridan, so I think your grandson will be quite happy with it. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside
