Guillermo--- The scope on my RWS 52 was maxed out and still not on. Shims is NOT the way to go. I called the airsmith at Airgun Express and he called the shot----told me exactly where I was hitting and he explained that RWS set up that way---don't remember the reason. Anyways ADJUSTABLE Mounts are needed. Cured my problem. I think it was RWS C mounts I bought. A little pricey--but it cured things. I have heard pros and cons about the RWS mounts---but I like em.

Guillermo---I might add when I was setting my RWS up and after getting the C mounts I mentioned,I tried several scopes. None with adjustable objective,so they just weren't focusing close range. I finally bought the Leupold 3x9x compact with EFR(Extended Focus Range--so it focuses at the range you need). They were running $307,but on Ebay used ones,no matter how old were bringing $275 so considering how well they hold value,it's really a cheap scope.

If you buy a new scope make sure it's rated for Hi Power springers. Especially in .177 they do tend to wreck scopes. Also try to get adjustable mounts made from steel, not recycled alloy floor sweepings from the machine shop. And it's worth putting "Locktite" or some thing similar between the rings and scope, to prevent movement. I don't know the details of that gun, but it probably has the barrel set at an angle to make it easer to set up open sights, without having to use risers. Like a lot of Weihrauch guns do. That could be why you run out of adjustment on the scope. "When doing battle, seek a quick victory."

I had the same problem on my Panther 31, but found it was the locking pin out too far into the mount from the rings.

I have a question about shims....I have used them to shim a rimfire scope and a front sight. When I used shims, I have used two materials. One is paper(actually the heavy paper from a box of 22 carts)...the other is aluminum cans. When I have used shims they have gone between the scope mounts and the rifle/pistol. Is this how other are doing it? I am fine tuning my sight in and am close to the extreme limits of travel. I also have question about scope shift(inside the rings!!!). I bought a Beeman RS3(chinese built springer) and the scope has moved back on me...the rings are pretty tight, I am afraid to tighten more. My next step is to try a little locktite(purple? the lowest strength) between the rings and scope. Anyone done this....is it a bad idea? -phil

Yes blue LocTite it, the "LocTite 646" i think, it will just rub off most parts when it's dry. Old film is good for shimming in the rings. But you may need an adjustable or a "drooper mount" something like on the Mac1 website. http://www.mac1airgun.com/droopers.html "When doing battle, seek a quick victory."

AKperrydog---The RWS scope base is not made to be removed thus shimming the bases was not an option. Shimming inside the rings marred the scope and didnt hold anyways. The adjustable mount cured all the problems.
