You are right.

For hunting one does require more velocity, heavier pellets and larger caliber.

As I gather the results, I am going to make a compilation of the pellets and how they shot in different rifles.

Something weird happened.

Different manufacturers make the same pellet design in two types.

They are exactly the same, except one is lead and one is copper coated.

Crazy thing is the copper coated ones don’t shoot as well as the plain lead ones??

Not sure if this will continue right across the board.

The side cocking Anschuts 380 seems to have slightly more velocity.

Everything involving ballistics is a compromise.

An 8 plus or minus grain, lead .177 caliber RWS pellet at 8-850 fps MV has killed every small varmint I have ever wanted to kill with an air rifle.

I call that my .177 Aero Express.

I don't want or need a .177 Weatherby Magnum!

I had to stop shooting the Anschutz 380 side cock rifle.

Shot a few groups, which were great.

The bold has a hard rubber seal.

The rifle must have been in my store for over 30 years.

The seal deteriorated and started falling apart.

I will post the ones I have shot.

Had a whole bunch of HATSAN rifles brought in for testing.

Picked a 25 caliber that can be fired fully automatic and semi automatic.

They are a bit rough.

Have Picatinny rails all over the place.

The magazine slot is in wrong place for a scope.

The rifle came with a sort of long rail mounted on top with open sights.

I had to remove this to mount the scope.

Then found out that the magazine cannot be put in place because the scope turrets are in the way.

Honestly, what sort of brainless idiot designs this sort of thing is beyond me!

I did not even bother opening any of the other rifles.

Sent them back to the dealer and told him what I thought of them.

These are the results of the AIR ARMS S400 TRIOTHLON.

Very nice rifle, only let down by the magazines, which seem to not rotate with some pellets.

The pellets fit, no problem, but I think the index mechanism sometimes hangs up.

Good results, but not quite equal to the Walther.

The only Walthers I own are semi-automatic pistols.

I like all of them.

An LG 400 may be in my future.

Love these data.

This is the ANSCHUTZ 380 SIDE COCK rifle.

Apparently this is what was used for 10 meter Olympic shooting before PCPs came along.

This rifle is brand new, but at least 30 years old.

Never used before.

But I had to abandon my testing as the seal around the bold has deteriorated as you can see.

I have ordered a new one, but the few results I go do give an idea of its performance.

Good show!

Nice wood stock on that old timer, too.
