Hello!!! A few days ago I received my first and new Diana Air Rifle Model 460 Magnum, Cal. 177 I adquired it with the original Diana Telescope Sight Pro-fit set ( 3-9x40 scope, one piece mount, allens wrenchs, targets, and one can of Diana Sport pellets). After unpacking the rifle, I put several targets exactly at 10 yards distance (from the muzzle) I shot 5 pellets to each target from bench rest (My high power rifle rest )using the iron sight, indoor shooting range, to avoid wind effects and with natural light. I used in the first series RWS Meisterkulgen pellets (8,3 grains aprox) I selected each pellet with my rcbs reloading scale and with a micrometer, but most of the group obtained were not satisfactory to my expectations ( 3/4" Aprox. ( 19 mm Aprox.)"center to center" group at 10 yards) I took a rest, and the next day, I tried again, this time I mounted the scope (like I usually do in all my powerfull centerfire hunting rifles and I shot taking care about the way of holding the stock, the way of seeing trought the scope to minimize the parallax effects, pulling soft the trigger etc...) I tried again with three more differents types of pellets, RWS Super H Point, RWS Superpoint, RWS Meisterkulgen and Diana Sport, the groups stayed in the same "center to center" group size; 3/4" (Aprox 19 mm /10 yards) What I m doing wrong? Im using the wrong pellets?, May I have to use heavier pellets in this type of rifle ? Any experience with this model? there is a barrel and spring break period ? What level of accuracy may I expect for this rifle ? I hope somebody can help me.Waiting your reply soon. My best regards;Guillermo "Every ignored reallity prepares its revenge!"

Guillermo---I had some Meisterkulgen pellets---but they were match grade pistol pellets and I was using them in a rifle. Results poor. They were probably too light. I tried several pellets and to my surprise the cheaper Premier Pellet by Crosman (10.5 grains) worked the best. Yes,it will probably settle down as you break it in. I also suspect you need a heavier pellet. If I'm reading things correctly the RWS 8.3 was your heaviest and probably gave the best group.

You could try different sorts of rests, a spring powered airgun will jump off any rest that is too firm. It takes a LOT of practice and tuning in your technique with a springer to get much better than your doing already. "When doing battle, seek a quick victory."

The Specialist:I agree regarding that "It takes a LOT of practice and tuning in your technique with a springer" but Im shooting at 10 yards!!!With a old Geco spring powered Rifle I put all the pellets in one hole at 10 yard !!! To night I will try some Gamo S-10 (10,3 grains) that I found at the local gunshop, but I not sure if are good pellets, the are not uniform on weight and diameter. Thanks Specialist and Carpetman!!!.
