In reading an earlier post by stuntpilot2, he had done some really extensive testing with JB Bore Paste, and found the results to be very interesting since i dont have a borescope and use a very similiar method. I use a nylon bore brush on a patch coated with JB Bore Brite, a very fine compound, and i can easily reverse direction while in the bore. I believe it gets out all of the carbon, and running the bare nylon brush soaked with the kroil/shooter`s choice mix through the bore all of the carbon and compound sludge out of it. The difference is unbelievable. I had measured the seating depth for all of my bullets when the rifle was new and recorded them. After 300-350 rounds I measured them again and found my seating depth figures had SHRUNK .060, so I figured that i had used the tool wrong the first time around, since this time I lightly seated a bullet then closed the bolt on it to find 0. I purchased a new bullet to try and checked it for 0 after i had cleaned the barrel with the new method. Now the seating figure was back out to where it was as new. Checked the other bullets, all back where they were as new. The throat was built up with so much carbon it reduced the depth by .060, and cleaning it this way removed it. You can really tell the difference with a wet patch also. Normally after a day of shooting,a wet patch of 1 1/8 square is Very tight and has to be stabbed off center to even go in. Ater cleaning I can use a 1 3/8 patch slightly off center. I generally use about 50 strokes, reapplying compound every 10 or so when it sticks out of the muzzle and this has really made my rifle easier to clean all the way around. I use a mixture of 16oz. Shooter`s Coice/ 8oz. of Kroil with a bronze brush for normal cleaning. Works great, Give it a try.

MPro7, Hoppe's Elite, Slip2000 Carbon Killer and even GM TEC will do the same thing without all the elbow grease. Wink
