I did not want to Hijack the other Hoppes thread, or get in the middle of a fued, but here is a little trivia on Hoppes.

When I was in College, my Organic Chemistry Professor was a hunter/shooter, as was I.

We discovered we both had 264 Win Mags.

He gave me a big bottle of Hoppes No9.

He said that the formula had been changed to remove a certain chemical[s] [cannot remember], that were "harmful" and the "new formula" was not near as good. But the stuff he was giving me was "restored to the original formula".

It smelled the same as the very old bottles of Hoppes my dad had.

The name "Hoppes No9" is an institution. No doubt the formula has been changed several times.

The chemical removed was nitrobenzene.

You are correct. I was thinking that was it, but it had been a long time.

And as you might know the memory is the second thing to go.... I cannot remember what the first thing was. Big Grin
