I have a new Weatherby Vanguard S/S 7 rem.mag. Have shot around 70-80 rounds. I believe I am seeing a pattern that the first 4-6 rounds do not group well at all. I talking 6†@ 100 yards. Then all of a sudden it will start shooting less than 1†groups. This is a hunting gun what am I to do about cleaning as I need 1†group with the first shot.
THANKS
Jerry

Have you tried not cleaning it after a range session, then checking shot impact the next time you go? What about experimenting with leaving the oil/patching the oil out of the barrel before the first shot? Or maybe shooting the first few rounds right as you are leaving to hunt?

Try cleaning your gun with Forrest's Bore Cleaning Foam. It dissolves copper residues in the barrel without containing ammonia. This makes it unnecessary to oil the barrel for conservation and neutralization of the ammonia after cleaning.
I have constant groups starting with the first shot AND clean guns in my rack.
