One of my bolt-rifles in .30-06 has developed rust in the barrel and it looks like tiny pits, but this is only forming on the lands, NOT in the grooves!! Leaves my scratchin my head an wondering whether there's a remedy for this. The gun shoots fine and cleans up pretty quick, but when I check it again the rust seems to have cropped up in the same spots. The rifle is a copy of the Sauer 202 and supposedly sports a "chrome-flash" barrel. How can I get rid of this issue? One shot..meat! Two shots...maybe...Three shots...heap shit! - Old Indian adage

What is the definition of "chrome-flash " ? You may very well have a bad plating job that's causing the problem.I wonder if abrasive cleaners ,just on the lands would work.
