I need to get a bore guide for a New Ultra Light Arms model 28. I've tried ordering one from Sinclair. I first called them back on December 11th, and after following up numerous times, they still haven't been able to place the order for me. Are there any other companies who make custom bore guides?

Get a Lucas bore guide. He doesn't have a website, but google will give you an email address and a phone number. I have three, and plan on getting another for my .458 Lott.

Lucas are well worth it... There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

I have a Nolan Tool Company custom bore guide. It's made from stainless steel with nylon parts pressed on. His e-mail address is tknolan@prodigy.net. I can't really compare it to the Lucas because I've never owned a Lucas, but the wormanship on mine is impressive. It also came with two collars so that you can set up two rods, one with a brush and one with a jag. "Beware the man with only one gun; he may know how to use it."

The only bore guides I've ever owned are Lucas. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

I use a fired case from the rifle, drill out the primer pocket and insert and glass a 10 or 12 inch section of aluminum arrow shaft. cut a slot in the shaft about at the tang of the rifle, to put a little oil on the patch as I run the rod thru it...The fired case is a perfect fit to the chamber and throat, the arrow shaft is the guide..I have one for each rifle. I also use a dowell rod or cleaning rod and a magic marker or pencil to measure the OAL of a loaded round with a specific bullet, then seat the bullet back a couple of thousands short of that measurement...cost? another 25 cents. It works at a cost of maybe 25 cents or 0. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

I have my own lathe and made my stainless cleaning rods and my "bore" guides. The guides are made from a plastic that is a lot like nylon but denser. All I am sure of is that it is not affected by the solvents and oils that I use. Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.
