I was cleaning the 597 the other day and had the bolt assembly out. Tried to reassemble it and couldn't get the damn guide springs back in. I took the bolt back out and put the rods back in and installed the springs. I found an old wooden yard stick and cut off a 6 inch piece and round the corners to fit the bolt slide area. I then took the piece of yard stick and put it in front of the springs and pulled both rods and springs back together just far enough to insert the bolt then gently removed the stick and the springs and rods fell right into place. Worked great. I marked the tool and put it the cleaning kit. Trying to put those springs in without a tool is like trying to thread a wet noodle up a wild cats butt in a telephone booth. Hope this helps out someone. Tony | ||
