I bought a big can of Break Free Powder Blast Gun Cleaner because it was really on sale. I want to use it to clean a revolver that is so gunked, the cylinder will barely rotate. Takes some energy to make it go 'round with the fingers. How do I use this stuff? Can says I don't have to take guns apart to use it. Do I just spray into the workin' parts and that's it? Seems too easy...

Just take the gris off, go outside, and stick the nozzle into the various places that "go inside" the mechanism and "hose her down". Waite a while, and repeat a time or two, working the action after each hosing a little bit. Whe the gun is clean, just relube. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

homebrewer I have used the BF product, and Birchwood Casey Gun Scruber Dozens of times to give a gun, or pparts of a gun a quick, fast, and effective clean/flushout. These products do remove all ther lube, so you just need to re oil after the "flush" dries. Also Hornady makes a spray, that is a cleaner and leaves a DRY lube behind. So in a revolver sometimes I clean with the first two sprays, and then give the insides a squirt or two of the Hornady product. Works great when in a hurry or in the field where you do not want to take a gun apart. Works for rifles and shotguns too. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Just cleaned my stainless Taurus Model 608 (8-inch barrel) with the powder-blasting stuff. Requires a liberal application of elbow grease and a terrycloth washcloth, too. I had best results with a small patch of scotch-brite sprayed with the cleaner. The flutes in the cylinder were heavily caked with powder residue, as well as everything inside where the powder gases get. Well, what should I expect? I've had the gun for maybe seven years, fired it hundreds of times and never cleaned it one whit. Looks so good now, I may never fire it again... The 6.5-inch model:

I love the 'Powder Blast' and use it often. I have found that it makes thing squeaky clean, so I do put a little Ballistisol on after for lubing... I actually like the citrus smell too!

Yeah; smells like oranges. I sprayed the workin' and rotatin' parts down with Eezox after I cleaned the gun. Looks nice...

Now that you have a quick easy cleaning method, I say shoot it a bunch... Just clean it a little more often. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I think you're right N E, I do have a buddy that sprays it on fishing lures sometimes, says it helps his 'strike count'????? The powder blast smells like it is derived from oranges to me....I wonder

It is. Citrus oil is a great cutter of crap and gunk. Who doesn't love Fast Orange over Go-jo? Makes me wonder if a dob of Fast Orange on the cleaning brush wouldn't do the bore a world of good at a far lesser price than the high-dollar products sold for the same purpose...

Fish I know back when I first started bass fishing in the early 1960's we put anise oil [I think that is what it was] on our plastic worms. Ballistol has a similar smell, it might work for fishing. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

NE, makes sense, I actually recall hearing about anise before, know a few guys who put it out as a deer attractant. Homebrewer, interesting thought on the Fast Orange....I'll probably try it, got a big container of Fast Orange in the shop.

Anise is supposed to be a good pig attractant as well. Maybe I should start cleaning and wiping my pig guns with Ballistol instead of Break Free, or Prolix. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
