I'm sure there are many on the forum that have experience with the Wipe out Bore cleaner and the accelerent. How well does this stuff work and how long should one let it sit in the bore before patching it again. What should I look for to make sure the bore is clean? Thanks in advance

I've been using Wipe-Out Patch-Out (hate pressurized cans) with the accelerent for about a year now and am impressed. I don't use brushes (patches only), leave it in overnight, and it usually cleans in 2 cycles. Sometime 3 12 hour cycles and is better than anything I've yet to try using my brushless method.

Used to use a variety of other products including Sweets but got sick of chemical smells.

I used to use the Foam Wipe Out but freight charges killed getting it here in Australia anymore so switched to the Patch Out and sometimes the accel.

Accel works well but is only needed if you really need to speed up cleaning, otherwise patch out by itself works fine.

I'd suggest using a Powder solvent before using either Wipe Out Foam or Patch Out. I am in the process of using Tactical Advantage as a Carbon cleaner (but would like to try Carb out but again, it's a Dangerous good so freight kills it).

Also worth alternating between Patch Out and a carbon cleaner every so often.

Using a Plastic brush to "foam up" the liquid also helps.

Overall, have been using it for years now and still think it's the best their is.

Zephyr,
I'm about to the stage you are with it. I have used it on 2 guns so far and can't believe that everything can be that easy. I have one of my .375's that likes to copper up. I think I will shoot it this weekend and try this regimen on it and see....
So far, I think I'm getting more of it in and switching.

Speaking with Terry at sharpshooter he gave some advice that was not listed in their lit. He likes to use Montana bristle brushes and will put a 1/2 dozen drops of patchout and a few accerator on the brush at the same time push through and pull it back and walk away... the brush creates bubbles or air which helps the catalyst. I also asked him about oiling the bore after cleaning he said that patch out has a rust inhibitor in it and that you do not need to oil your barrels he then went on to tell me about oil how it burns in the barrel creating carbon that is tough to remove with conventional cleaners.. You should give him a call and spend some time on the phone with him I realize that he is selling his product but I like what I'm seeing.... when I have some time I'm going to give one of my win "92s" a cleaning and see what happens... I did ask him about lead and he said that his product is not the best for getting lead out

Wipe out works just fine. A squirt of brake cleaner followed by a patch, repeat once, works as well. 99% of guns are overcleaned and damaged by it. Never clean until groups open. Keep rifles in an Intercept lined case (Boyt) and they will never rust.

After buying and trying every thing I could get my hands on and brushing, swabbing, patching, repeatedly, I went back to Wipe Out. Lot less frustration, a whole lot less rod time in my bores, and it stills does a great job.
Just my opine!

I've been using Wipeout lately. Much easier than brushing and patching with other solvents. It seems to get enough crud out to keep my barrels shooting good. I plan on continuing to use it.

I'm a cleaning chemical junkie.

Wipe Out and the accelerant are the best I've found overall. There are cleaners that are faster, but that's about it.

Rick,

I've been using Wipeout and the accelerant now for a bit over a year. Since I shoot only TSX and CEB bullets, I needed something that would really get the copper out from the Barnes bullets. This finally worked as advertised.

I usually mix the two together in a small glass, soak a patch and run it through the bore followed by a loose brush to create some foam. Then let it sit overnight or around 12 hours. It usually takes 3 sessions to completely clean down to steel. I'm sold on it.

You need to factor in Dangerous goods freight
as the Wipe Out incurs it being an aerosol.

I have been using Wipe Out (foam) and the accelerant since 2009 and they are the best I've found. You will be amazed at how simple cleaning the rifle becomes.

+1 for Wipeout foam!

Lately I've been using their "Patchout" between foam cleanings... makes the job all that much easier!

Been using Wipe-Out and Accelerent for well over 8yrs know and love it. Simple and cheap to use. My only complaint is its not fast, but I accept that trade off for the level of convience and ease of cleaning.

And all BS aside it truely works as advertised. Am down to my last 1 and a 1/2 bottles of the foam so will be ordering more.

I tape on a cut off aluminum arrow on the cans tube about 6" long so I get it to fill the barrel before it starts to foam out the muzzle end. I also plug both ends of all my rifles and use a 150watt bulb aimed at my barrel to keep it nice and worm to help the W/O do its job.

I have tried 99.9% of all the barrel cleaning products out there and I stick with W/O for all my barrel cleaning needs when it comes to removinf all of my powder fowling and most of my copper fowling.

In my MLs and sabot firing 12gas I use Bearchwood MC-7 to remove built up plastic fouling.

So are the majority of other Coppers Solvents / cleaning solutions and definitely Sweets as I got a drop or two on a stock early on and never got rid of the spots.

I clean my barrels about twice a year with Wipe Out, and its the best I've used..In between I use a bore snake with usually Rem Oil on the copper brush part...
Metal cleaning rods and jags have ruined more bores than anything else I know of..
