I recently began shooting BearTooth cast bullets. Is there any difference in cleaning after shooting cast bullets as opposed to copper jacketed? I usually use CLP or Wipeout products but not sure if they will work after shooting cast!

If I run a couple of Jacketed Loads through the Bore for every 10-12 Cast Bullets, the cleaning is easier for me. Then at the end of the session, I just use any of the regular Bore Cleaners and normally a Brass Brush. The Brass Brush helps a lot with Lead, as compared to a Synthetic Brush. I believe "Lyman" currently owns the rights to the Lead Removing Cloth. It is a treated heavy cloth which really does a job on Lead. Great on the front of Revolver Cylinders. And a small piece wrapped around a Brush wipes a barrel clean very quickly. Well worth the cost.

I use Beartooth, Lazer cast and Cast Performance bullets in 375, 416, 45 and 50 cals and haven't had any leading problems that WipeOut, Patchout and a nylon brush won't handle in a normal lenght barrel and at normal cast lead bullet velocities...and even quite a bit higher. I do add Alox by finger application, let dry, load then wipe the noses...for those I push the velocity with. The problem usually is the lub, NOT the lead, building up so I clean every 15 shots or so. I use Lymans lead out cloth and the Lewis lead remover also in my wheel guns. Best start with a smooth barrel...any kind of roughness will cause a lead buildup very quickly. Polishing with Flitz or a lead lap or using one of the "bullet barrel smoothers" will help. Goto some of the black powder or cast lead forums to get a better picture. Luck
