What's the best method and which products are best for cleaning muzzle loaders shooting blacke powder? Also, how often to clean? Regards, AI

I've been using hot soapy water ever since I started playin' around with black powder guns back in the seventies. It has always done the job quite well. So well in fact that I have never tried anything else.

I brush/ dry patch every third shot or so. Hot soapy water works great with B/P. Hotter the better. I blow everything out with an aircompressor, light lube and go. My in-line is easier to clean then some of the factory barreled centerfires I have had over the years. takes longer to strip them than clean them mostly.
