Does anyone know for sure yes or no, if Wipe-Out foaming bore cleaner has a shelf life?

I ask because after my last trip to the range where I fired my normal 30 or so rounds out of my .338wm Wipe-Out failed to get 100% of all the copper out. I know this because the foam coming out the muzzle end was still bright blue after two seperate 6hr applications where I used the accelorator both times. I finaly had to resort back to my old favorite, CR-10 and one application and no more blue patches.

I will add the can of Wipe-Out I used is my second to last and is around 80% empty and is about 5yrs old now. This poor performance caught me compleatly by surprise as Wipe-Out has always performed excellently for me. I first use Berchwood Casey's 2n1 cleaner to remove any carbon, especially in the chamber area of the rifle, compleatly clean any remaining 2n1 left behind in the rifle with action cleaner, then use the Wipe-Out.

I have been using Wipe-Out for six or seven years know and always use it exactly as I should, which is kinda Arthur-proof. I bought my last suply from Midway about five years ago and thats about gone now.

Thoughts anyone.

I have been using Wipe-Out for the last 5
years. Some of the cans are 4 years old and still work fine. On my last PD trip I put 300
rounds through my 22-250 and did not clean until
I got home. A rifle will only hold so much foul
and then stop. It took about five applications
of about 2-3 hours each before there was no more
blue fouling. Then I ordered some accelarator to
see if that would get more foul out. The first
use got some weak blue out, and the second was
clear. Great products! Plus you get an extra
couple onces over the other foams.
Brownells has a product from Europe called
VFG Weapons Care System. It eliminates the need
for brushes and patches. Makes cleaning alot
faster.

depends on the barrel moreso than any shelf life. I have a few factory tubes that are down right ignorant after only maybe 30-40rnds. It has taken me several days with wipe-out repeated 1x/day and soaking a full 24hrs each time, to get those barrels clean. Some bores strip more copper than others, and foul to a greater degree and wipe-out will only stay viscous for so long before it settles to the bottom of the bore. just my .002"

I'm in full agreement with JustC on this, I use wipeout on everything from .17 to 7mm & everything in between, but that little O'l .270 just likes me to baby it after 40 rounds! Cool

Do you plug the chamber with anything but the bolt when you use wipeout?

Hi, It's not needed with wipe out foam, it starts out a bit like shaving foam, I just lightly pack the magazine area with paper towel Cool Cool to keep it off the stock & scope, I stop the foam shot as soon as the foam shows, It really is the dogs boll*cks!

No need to plug the chamber, use a short length of neoprene or vinyl hose on the WipeOut nozzle, insert it into the chamber until it's tight in the chamber to seal that end, slip a pop bottle over the muzzle and push the button conservatively, one quick press will usually do, wait for it to exit the muzzle, as it expands it will fill the bore, takes a second or two, you'll waste less.

I've noticed that as the cans get closer to empty, its difficult to get a "good" foam (more liquid). My supply is getting old also; about (5) years. I will say, this is the best bore cleaning development in my lifetime; long!!! On the subject, has anyone tried the " Wipeout Patch Out" yet? How does it compare to regular Wipeout? I'm going to pick up a can to try; would be handy in some situations if its as good.

I just picked some Patchout, but I don`t have an opinion yet. I used it the other day on a 223 after 40 rd went down the barrel, and the next morning it patched out clean. This rifle doesn`t foul much to start though, and isn`t really a good test.

Hi, I happened to have my .270w with me when I visited Continental shooting supplies , Dalry (Scotland), It's very temperamental, Tom used some Patch out before he borescoped the tube, it was very fast working, about 20 mins! Cool

That`s good to hear thumb

I have been useing Wipe out for a couple years and like it except for the occasional mess at times. I got in the habit of giving the bore a squirt and walking away for the night. The next day everything normally patches out. The patchout I ran down my 223 seemed to react the same way and if it keeps up it will be great cleaner on anyones bench IMO.
