WOW, no one told me it would be that much fun! I have had the time of my life. Everything was amazing. The quality of the animals of this 164,000 acre ranch is truly top notch. I am having trouble attaching pictures, maybe I could get some advice on this? The first day started off a little shaky with the guns being way off at the range, but were quickly sighted back in, dam planes. After we left the range we saw around 200 animals of all different species and even went on a stalk for a 38 inch Gemsbok, but the wind ended that one. The afternoon hunt provided a great Burchells Zebra stallion, man are they tough animals, I think when I go back next year I go up a caliber from 300 win to 338win or even 375. When we got the Zebra loaded we only made it down the road a half a mile and found a 23 inch red Hartebeast with 12 inch bases and I was able to make a clean one shot on him and then it was back to the ranch for dinner. Man what a first day. I had told the PH's at the ranch I wanted to tag along on a Leopard hunt if that was possible and the next day we were off and man these guys can hunt Leopards, the dogs baid up a huge 75kg catin a cave and the hunter was able to make a great shot at very close range. I have never heard anything like that roar what a rush. On the way back to the ranch I was able to take a 23 and a half inch beatiful impala ram, by now I am starting to feel like I have died and gone to hunting heaven. Tha afternoon I made a long shot on a nice 12 inch pig. The Gemsbock gave me some real trouble the wind always was in their favor but I ended up with 34 inch old bull with massive bases and also another old bull with one weird horn, I am a fan of the old balls, so all in all I am happy with the them. I had a chance at a 39 to 40 inch bull but the wind and the Black Wildebeast never let us get below 400 yards and it wasn't worth taking the risk of making a bad shot, and I already had two. The Kudu has got to be the most majestic of all the plains game, we hunted many days to find a bull over that 55 inch mark passi8ng up many in the 50 to 55 range. I finally decided that I wanted a reeally wide bull and we found a old bull high on the moutain that looked the part and we made a great stalk into 175 yards and made a great shot and the old bull went down. He measured 50 inches on one side and 51 on the other but was 37 and a half inches wide so waht a great Kudu. On the way back to the ranch we checked on a water hole and found a huge Bull and made a long shot and down went my second Kudu, he measures 55 inches on both sides and is a very tight spireled bull so I ended up with one of each. Man am I happy with those bulls I haven't got my SCI measuerments back yet but I am sure they score well. On the way to the canyon to find the Kudu I was lucky enough to take a Cheetah that was raising cane on the Springbok, that was definatly one of the trips high points. The hide will be used at the new lodge they are building along with a picture of my smiling face, I wish Cities would allow the import, but oh well I always have the memories. The last two days I hunted for Springbok but my dad, Blank, set the bar high with his 16 and a half so I passd up alot of rams in the 15 inch range and ended up taking a 15 and a half with a strange broomed off horn, he is different but what a trophy for me. My PH shook his head on that one but if I couldn't get the 16 mark why not take a different 15 and a half. The last after noon I took a very nice Blesbok and another pig to wind down the trip. The Ranch treated us like gold and so even though I am still finishing up with college, my wife and I were so impressed and had so much fun we booked next year at the same time. Only 360 days to go!! I can't sing the praises of Erindi loud enough, if you want a hunt of a lifetime with great animals, great food, and great people go to Erindi. Thanks to my Dad, Ted, and the entire staff at Erindi Ranch

The pictures turned out great, and we will work on getting them posted. I was glad everything worked out so well for my son and daughter-in-law, and they made a huge number of new friends. The look on their faces said it all when they got off the plane! Will get together with everyone at Reno SCI, and the PH's will try their luck on our elk and bear next year with us here in Idaho.

Sounds like a great hunt but reading that really put a strain on my eyes...even with a 24" monitor!

Keith Atcheson books for them. I'm trying to remember the name of the operator, he's a nice bloke, I chatted with him in Reno a few times.

Namibia is a great destination isn't it. I put my name in the hat for a Sports Afield hunt raffle at Erindi. I'm getting Africa withdrawals, began my 1st trip to Namibia last year about this time. Bob

Riverman, great safari! Sounds like you had a blast. My wife and I talked with Erindi this year in Reno, however we were not sure there would be anything else for my wife to do, other than go on the hunt. She will do this, but is not the type that will want to do this every morning and evening. Did your wife have a great time as well? Was there "other" things to do? We are looking at going with Hunters Namibia, but it might be interesting to talk with more than one PH this coming year.
