Mark VallaroThanks for all the kind comments. Gibbo can still get on and off the plane by himself. He takes a bit of time but he does it.
The wilde with the kudu was 32" wide.

Buzz, I wasn't going to mention that trophy until I know what it is and that should be mid April.
Congrats to you Buzz and the Chalton/McCallum team for your award from the Safari operators association of Zim (SOAZ). Great job you guys have done with Dande especially the East. Well done and keep up the good work.

larryshoresThe one impala is bizarre. I have never seen anything like that.
What is the story behind the charge photo? At least, I think that is what it is.
Congrats on a successful season.

Mark VallaroHi Larry
Yes that pic is of a leopard charge. I don't won't to go into too much detail as it is coming out on Dark &Dangerous soon. What happened is my client wounded it the night before and we pulled out cause I felt it was too dangerous. Next morning we found where he walked up a path and then lay down. Not much blood. We were sweeping each thicket when he burst out at my head tracker. Lots of people say that the leopard is the most underrated big game animal. That's only if it's shot properly. I have faced lions, buff and elephant but none waited or came as quick as that leopard. He covered that 5m between my tracker and him in 0.5 seconds. I had never been charged before by a leopard but I suppose if you hunt them long enough and as many as I do in a year it was a matter of time. First charge in 10 years of hunting or almost 50 leopard.
Thanks for all the kind comments everyone.

tomahawkerHi mark, what were you carrying on the leopard follow up?
22 December 2014, 22:37
Mark VallaroMy trusty .470 Heym double with 500 grn Hornady GMX. It's the weapon I use most and am most familiar with. You don't have any time to think on a charge like that and have to rely on instincts.
